I know part of what you say is true; there have been many come and gone whom this is applicable to. There are the odd ones who are still around, but natural selection seems to weed these people out either immediately or contemporaneous with the stress of constant warfare and low activity.

To me, what PG is speaking of, painting us all with that broad brush people are so fond of in an attempt to get political gain. I should think you may not want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Be realistic, there are far more dedicated individual players who aren't like this at all. There is a cohesive spirit within that is unbreakable.

Seleen is embaresed that the fact is that "south east" force are going to "help" them to stay alive. That she has realized the hard way that her alliance are nothing if it dosent have one very strong allie next to them figthing. (If they are not figthing noobs all over eve with there MS:s).
